10 Day Kenyan Safari : Bush to Beach Itinerary
This 10-Day Bush to Beach expedition takes you from the unique high-altitude wilderness of Ol Pejeta Conservancy—home to the world’s last northern white rhinos—through the flamingo-rimmed lakes of the Rift Valley, and into the heart of the legendary Maasai Mara. After the adrenaline of tracking the “Big Five,” trade your safari boots for sandals as you fly to the palm-fringed sands of Diani Beach.
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi – The City in the Sun
Touch down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where our team awaits to whisk you away to your hotel. Activities: Afternoon at leisure to shake off the jet lag; evening briefing over a welcome dinner.
Day 2: Nairobi to Ol Pejeta – Icons of Conservation
Journey north across the equator to the Laikipia Plateau. Wildlife: Encounter the world’s last two remaining Northern White Rhinos and visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Activities: Evening game drive including a chance for a night safari to spot elusive nocturnal species like aardvarks and caracals.
Day 3: Ol Pejeta to Lake Nakuru – The Pink Gateway
Descend the scenic walls of the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park. Wildlife: A sanctuary for endangered Rothschild giraffes and both Black and White rhinos. Scan the fever trees for tree-climbing lions. Activities: Lakeside photography and bird watching for thousands of flamingos and pelicans
Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara – Into the Great Plains
Drive through the rolling breadbasket of Kenya before reaching the world’s most iconic wildlife reserve. Wildlife: Enter the territory of the “Big Five.” Activities: An introductory sunset game drive across the golden grasslands of the Mara.
Day 5: Full Day in the Maasai Mara – The Safari Heartland
A day dedicated to the theater of the wild. Wildlife: Observe massive prides of lions, cheetahs on the hunt, and elephants grazing among the croton bushes. Activities: Full-day game viewing with a private picnic lunch in the bush; optional sunrise hot air balloon flight.
Day 6: Maasai Mara to Diani Beach – Savannah to Surf
Fly directly from the Mara’s airstrip to the sparkling coast, bypassing hours of road travel. Activities: Transition from the bush to the beach in time for a sunset cocktail with your toes in the white sands of Diani.
Day 7–9: Diani Beach – Tropical Bliss
Three full days to enjoy the rhythm of the Indian Ocean. Wildlife: Spot playful Sykes’ monkeys in the coastal forest and dolphins during a boat excursion. Activities: Snorkeling at Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park, traditional dhow sailing, or visiting the sacred Kaya Kinondo forest.
Day 10 : Farewell Kenya
Savor a final breakfast overlooking the ocean. Activities: Transfer to Ukunda or Mombasa for your flight to Nairobi, connecting to your international journey home.
